When to Visit the CSU Trial Garden

Where do you find such a place? At the Colorado State University Flower Trial Garden!

The entire Trial Garden is planted each year with annuals from late May through October. You’ll find everything from common favorites like roses and petunias, to exotic plants and flowers. With names like ‘Brocade Cherry Night’, ‘Luscious Royale Cosmo’, ‘Hot Waterblue’ and ‘Margarita Orange Flair’, visiting this place is truly a delight.

The Trial Garden serves a very specific purpose – to evaluate the performance of different annual plant cultivars under the unique Rocky Mountain environmental conditions. While this scientific study is happening, the public just gets to enjoy the abundant beauty!

A visit to the Garden is truly a Fort Collins experience. The garden is open daily to the public, free of charge. As with any garden, the flowers are in full bloom mid-summer, but you can visit anytime. Wonder through the annual gardens then cross over to the CSU Center for the Arts where the Garden has expanded to perennials, grasses and other flora. Take your time, there’s much to see.

The Trial Garden is located at 1401 Remington Street. The street to the Trial Garden is bike friendly so check out a bike from us or grab a PACE bike and enjoy an afternoon or evening ride. It’s less than a 10 minute bike ride from the Armstrong!
