Coming to FoCo with kids in tow? Fort Collins is home to a variety of activities for kids of all ages and interests. No matter what season you’re visiting, there are loads of things to do both indoors and outdoors. Here are some of our favorite family-friendly activities in Fort Collins:
City Park is a large, beautiful park that features a playground, picnic areas, and a lake. You can even visit a mini replica of the Statue of Liberty, check out the trolleys, You can rent paddleboats, go fishing, or simply enjoy a leisurely stroll.
This 16,000 square foot interactive museum features hands-on exhibits about science and local history. The open floor plan invites you to discover the interconnectedness of everything from music to fossils to bicycles and everything in between. It’s both fun and educational for kids and adults alike!
This is a working farm where kids can learn about farm animals and even participate in feeding and petting them. Providing hands-on family fun since 1985, the Farm serves as an educational and interactive experience for Fort Collins residents and visitors.

Clothes Pony & Dandelion Toys is an independent specialty kids store in Fort Collins, run by passionate locals who love kids! They specialize in an eclectic, whimsical mix of toys and their only rule is to make a mess and have FUN! Join Anna and Julie every Monday and Wednesday at 10:30am for in person Storytime. They will be reading some of their favorite children’s books.

These beautiful gardens feature a variety of plants across 12 acres of beautiful landscape and 300+ North American butterflies in a tropical Butterfly House. You’ll find lots of family-friendly events, exhibits and activities too!
Fort Collins is surrounded by natural beauty. Along with strolling our beautiful streets and local trails, you can take your family for a memorable hike in Lory State Park, Horsetooth Reservoir, or the Cache la Poudre River Canyon. Don’t forget your camera!
Stroll through the historic downtown area, which is known for its charming shops, restaurants, and street performers. Don’t forget to try ice cream from Old Town Churn – part of the famous Little Man Ice Cream.
While these are breweries, they often have family-friendly areas and activities like lawn games and live music. You’ll get a chance to enjoy FoCo’s craft beer scene while the kids
If your family enjoys puzzles and challenges, try an escape room adventure together. Band together to solve the puzzle and exit the room in time!
Bonus: Fort Collins Trolley! Take a ride on the Birney Car Trolley, which runs through the city and provides a unique perspective of Fort Collins. (Runs beginning of May – beginning of October annually.)
