First Timer’s Guide to Fort Collins

Downtown Fort Collins

The heart of the City is Old Town. Spend your day downtown visiting the great shops, restaurants, bars and breweries. Enjoy walking through the enhanced downtown alleys, Old Town Square, and check out the local art. Bonus: our location! Entertainment

For 15 years, Fort Collins has been host to Bohemian Nights at New West Fest. It’s a 3-day music festival held in August and it’s all FREE! But you can find great live music and theater performances any time of year at Ace Gillett’s, Magic Rat, Washington’s, The Armory, the Lincoln Center and many other venues.

CSU

Fort Collins is also home to Colorado State University. CSU provides so many things to do through sporting events, music and arts, and cultural events. It’s a beautiful campus so take time to drive around The Oval or walk across campus.

City Trails & Amenities

Fort Collins was voted #1 for the best city to bike in. Be sure to take the time to grab a BikeShare and head out on more than 285 miles of trails that take you around the town, connect you to Loveland or out to the foothills.

The Mountains Are Calling…

The great thing about Fort Collins is that it’s a short drive to the mountains. Just 20 minutes from downtown is Horsetooth Reservoir. You can sit and enjoy the sunset, hike to Horsetooth Rock or hit the trail at Lory State Park.
