Every Memorial Day weekend, the Plaza hosts its largest event of the year, bringing in thousands of people from all over Northern Colorado. This event is free to the public and last all Memorial Day Weekend. This event changes slightly every year, but in the past has seen flyovers from WWII bombers, historical U.S. flag displays, Vietnam and post-9/11 traveling walls, and Military vehicle and equipment displays. Other local northern Colorado veteran-serving organizations contribute to the day by setting up booths and offering services on the Plaza grounds. In addition to the displays a “Victory Garden” ceremony takes place yearly where soils from battlefields and places of remembrance from around the world are brought here and placed in the garden by a veteran.
Take a drive through the mountains to Estes Park for the annual Art Market in downtown Estes. Located at Bond Park, more than 90 artisans will be there showcasing their talents May 25th – 27th. Take a stroll through town and then find a favorite spot to eat.
